Every time she used her call button for assistance to the restroom, she was forced to wait 40 minutes or more. I timed them after I realized how much it was happening. She was forced to get herself to the restroom alone out of desperation only a couple of weeks after surgery. They continually forgot to bring her her pain medication even upon request. They also sent attendants to "assist" her to the restroom that had no idea how to get her up, in which case she was again forced to get herself up in extreme pain. I had my grandmother placed in this facility.
Where passion and care live.
They promised to help mom dress each day for ther therapy sessions. Our goal for therapy was for her to be able to get dressed! Her sleepwear and socks were NEVER changed even though her clean clothes were hung up in the room. Dirty laundry stayed in the room for days, making room smell bad. Mom was a fall risk and had orders for a bed alert.
Two residents died on the 26th who would be later confirmed to have had the virus, with the first death being reported on the 29th. The facility does the best they can with short staffed for Nurse and cna’s. The food doesn’t allow any special diets and differs with every meals and at times is very tasty! The physical therephy and occupational therapy are the best, great at what they do and loving and caring and try their best. I became very attached to all and very hard to leave.
They had previously told me I wasn't allowed to take my boyfriend to the appointment because I wasn't experienced. When I arrived at my boyfriend's appointment and some random taxi guy was helping him out of the car, I realized Life Care has absolutely no organization skills. When my boyfriend finally came home, the wheel chair they gave him broke within about 3 weeks . Finally we just drove him up there to demand a working chair! While all the staff were very nice, I would never send a loved one here again.
The upper management has no idea what is going on. You would of thought with people from corporate just being there in August 2021 that things would improve however, as I already said, management and directors have no clue. I realize that all segments are short handed help but, if that is the case, Life Care has no business taking in clients. I must say that there are a few good people there but I say FEW. This has been such a disappointing experience and Life Care has a 4 rating?? I intend to share my review with mother's insurance copmpany.
I also will be interest in seeing if anyone from Life Care reaches out to me. My mom is in Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie. It was basically the only one available when she had a knee replacement. They have good therapy, but not great nursing care. Her room is fine, she's comfortable, and it's clean. She doesn't like that, but that's just the way it is.
