This does indeed remove Google Now from your list of home screens, but it also kills the functionality Google Now provides. Obviously it's a somewhat small gain for a potentially big loss. Removing Google Now from your home screen can be accomplished one of two ways. There are advantages and disadvantages to either method, so I'll leave it to you to decide which works best for you. On a Nexus 5 you no longer need to swipe up from the home button to access Google Now. Google Now has a permanent place on your home screen, being the screen furthest to the left.
At the top of the screen will be the Google Search bar. Tap and hold it and an option to remove will appear. Google wants its Assistant service to be successful. So, they've put the little microphone icon on their Search bar with the hope that you'll use it thanks to its convenient placement.

There are a variety of launchers available in the Play Store. But you should pay attention to which Android version that launcher requires when you choose one. It is an open standard that is maintained by a nonprofit organization. This way the users can chose freely between different ID4me providers and can also change the provider anytime. ID4me is an internet service that enables its users to log in to many different internet services with one account. Even disabling the Google app .The only way I found that works is to use another launcher.
Now simply click on the Remove button and the search bar will get removed. However, for some users, this might be a little too much. You might not even use the quick search bar or the Google Assistant. In this case, all that the search bar does is occupy space on your home screen.

The only method that works for my Blackview is disabling Google. But WHAT ELSE IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE GOOGLE APP THAT IS NOW ALSO DISABLED??! I feel like I'm likely disabling major functionality for a benign problem, like I'm amputating my arm cuz I don't like my nail polish colour. Yes, but I'd prefer 99p nail polish remover to Saw XXX.

Not sure if this will work for everyone, but figured I’d share what I did for mine (I’m on Android 4.4.2). It was much simpler, and so far it didn’t cause me any problems. Enable Developer Options, go to ‘Select runtime’, and change to ART . This also helps optimize your runtime, and battery life, I heard.
Some of the best launchers that we would suggest are Nova Launcher and Google Now Launcher. Just make sure that whichever launcher you decide to use is compatible with the Android version on your device. Most customs come with the Google search bar on the top of your home screen per default.

However, most custom ROMs allow you to remove the annoying Google Search bar by simply deleting it like you would delete any other homescreen widget. If you are not afraid to root your phone, then you can always opt for a custom ROM. A ROM is like a replacement of the firmware provided by the manufacturer.

For Moto phones whose system is very close to stock Android, the best way to get rid of the Google Search bar is to install a third-party launcher.
